We wrapped up another round of engaging Partner Regional Learnings with visits to Massachusetts and Connecticut. The groups of 20-30 each had a great time learning how to maximize the insurance management system Partner Platform and provided great insights into future upgrades and enhancements.
At each Learning, we always see a nice blend of new and tenured clients. This mixture of skill and experience levels leads to stimulating collaboration, with each Partner agency learning helpful tips and tricks for system use.
Partner Regional Learnings are never “another boring software event.” Each training focuses on using the Partner Platform the best way possible and engaging superusers in feedback sessions for enhancements. Ideas vary by state, specifically around state-specific insurance regulations, but are always thoughtful and innovative. Engaging with such a vibrant, creative community is invigorating!
One of the best parts of the Regional Learnings are the questions. Commonly asked questions tend to focus on efficiency. Our Partner agents want to make sure they’re using the Partner Platform the best way possible. We focus on every little click and keystroke, highlighting ways to do more with fewer actions. These shortcuts make a huge difference in areas like document management and certificates. No matter how long someone has used the system, they’ll always learn something new.
We’re grateful our Partner community engages in this way. Agencies who embrace coming to regional events like these, attending webinars and joining us at national industry conferences have a significant impact on the direction of SIS, Partner Platform, and our industry partners. Engagement in the Partner community means shaping our goals and growth, which in turn impacts the growth of our Partner agencies.
As we head into summer, the Partner XE team is back in our Columbus headquarters wrapping up a nine-state Regional Learnings tour over the past few months. We’re grateful for the turnout and collaboration with the Partner XE User Community in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, and Ohio and look forward to visiting even more regions in the Fall.
The Partner XE community closed out 2017 with a unique Regional Learning experience. Partner agencies joined us from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, and even New York state to participate in our first ever track-based Regional Learning event.
This past month we came back for round two with the Insurors of Tennessee at their Nashville headquarters. This year’s Regional Learning brought attendees from multiple states to learn about the latest Partner XE enhancements and updates. Community members came from across
Attendees got first-hand expertise from SIS’s Jake Thaxton, Nick Massaro, and President Michael Doran. Each played an important role in facilitating theTennessee, Kentucky, and Georgia to experience these new capabilities and find out how to most effectively integrate them into their agencies for increased efficiency. training. The Regional Learning could not have happened without the efforts Insuror of Tennessee’s own Daniel Smith and Ellie Small, whose coordinating efforts created a positive experience for everyone. Special thanks to Indium’s Margot Koester for joining us and sharing Indium’s independent agency-specific training curriculum.
Jake Thaxton, SIS Client Services Manager, led the training sharing his broad knowledge and sense of humor. Many attendees were returners from last year’s training and came prepared with questions and comments to further improve the Partner XE system. The sense of camaraderie, collaboration, and learning was evident throughout the day.
One attendee put it best: “Rarely do I make that drive and leave happy I took a day out of the office. This event was one of those days where I was genuinely pleased to have (attended).”
We feel the same. Many thanks to all who made the trip! We look forward to continuing our collaboration and seeing everyone again in 2018.

Our Partner XE Regional Learnings continue to expand! Earlier this month, the SIS team traveled east for a Regional Learning in Greensburg, PA near Pittsburgh. SIS President Michael Doran recapped the event below.
We couldn’t have felt more at home at our Partner XE Regional Learning event at Tuscano Agency in Greensburg, PA. Pinnacle Group Insurance Services’ Kirk Haldeman and Rob Tuscano, Robin Tuscano, Jeremy George and the rest of the team at the Tuscano Agency brought a positivity and warmth to the training that extended for the day.
The Western PA Partner XE Community gathered for four hours of high-quality training. While four hours of software training may sound tiresome, nothing could have been further from the truth. Between Browns/Steelers barbs and Penn State/Ohio State jibes, good laughs were shared by all.
Manager of Client Services Jake Thaxton led the training, keeping it both lively and informative. Here’s what our community members had to say about the training:
“…I thought the workshop was excellent and look forward to sharing the changes with our staff. Thanks for continuing to improve the system!”
“Thank you for a very informative couple of hours. We’re excited to move forward with SIS. Everyone I’ve worked with on your staff is very helpful and professional. It’s much appreciated.”
“I always appreciate how ‘reachable’ the folks at SIS are. Thanks for coming out to Western PA. I picked up some helpful nuggets I’ll share with the office. And I have no problem offering testimonials!”
“…the meeting was so informative…that we came into the office today and shared what we learned. We’re moving along more efficiently in Partner XE. I’m so thrilled to learn all these new capabilities.”
We look forward to continuing to support the Partner XE Community in Western Pennsylvania and thank them for making it a wonderful event.

Your insurance agency marketing goal is to stand out among the noise. Identifying and investing in serving a niche market is one of the most efficient and effective ways to achieve this challenging goal.
When you serve a niche market, you have less competition, making it easier to gain new customers in a specific arena. Your agency is set apart as providing “X” type of insurance, making you distinctive. PIA National’s 2022 Independent Agent Survey found that respondents devoted more than 20% of their book of business to a niche market. You, too, can capitalize on this valuable strategy.
Over the past few years, there has been a surge in insurance agency management transitions. Mergers and acquisitions specifically are on the rise, with an estimated 550 deals, up 12% from the previous year, in the first quarter of 2021. While these transitions can be profitable for owners, they can come with significant trepidation and worry from employees and customers.
As an owner, you need to start thinking ahead about how to prepare your agency for its eventual ownership transition. Whether you plan to perpetuate internally or externally, it’s essential that you prepare. That preparation includes setting your agency up for its highest valuation, prepping your team, and investing in tools and processes to bring your agency into the future.
Good partners and partnerships are critical to success in any business, but it’s crucial in technology where the pace of change and breadth of innovation is high. Insurance tech is growing fast, and it’s critical to look to progressive partners to keep up with the pace.
Why Partnerships Matter
Innovations happen everywhere, every day. Things like electric cars, an increase in IoT, the interconnectedness of tech systems in healthcare and our own homes, and other innovations significantly impact our industry. These tech advances inform how insurers can gain data to inform policies and process claims.
